Who are we?

Creative Vacations was born from a simple idea: travel is not only about seeing places, but about meeting people, sharing stories, and creating meaningful memories.

More than 16 years ago, when Northern Lights tourism was still relatively unknown, we began guiding visitors through the Arctic landscapes we call home. What started as a passion for nature, culture, and human connection gradually grew into a small local company dedicated to offering authentic experiences in Northern Norway.

We are Silvia and Vidar, partners in life, travel, art, and adventure. Throughout the years, we have welcomed visitors from all over the world, always choosing to work with small groups rather than large-scale tourism. We believe that a more personal experience allows for genuine conversations, flexibility, and a deeper connection with both the landscape and the people you meet along the way.

As the years passed, we expanded beyond Northern Lights tours and created other experiences that reflect the places and lifestyle we love: fjords and coastal landscapes, snowshoe adventures, cultural encounters, photography experiences, and small local activities designed to help visitors discover the Arctic from a different perspective.

Our backgrounds as artists continue to influence everything we do. Silvia is a visual artist whose work explores identity, migration, and the relationship between people and place. Vidar is a photographer and outdoor enthusiast with a deep knowledge of Arctic nature and local life. Through our involvement in the local artistic community, cultural projects, and international collaborations, we have learned that travel, like art, has the power to bring people together across cultures and languages.

Vidar Dons Lindrupsen: A native of Tromsø, Vidar holds a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts and Photography from Concordia University (Montreal, Canada). Vidar works in press, portrait and studio photography.

He also practices fine art photography, more specifically landscape and light work. Vidar teaches in Norwegian, English, Spanish and French (and possibly German?.. that would be entertaining :-)

Vidar has a special love for hanging out at frozen beaches, telling fairytales about the Aurora and about the trolls. He sometimes goes into deep existential discussions with himself on which lens is the best to use
